DANIELLE SMITH WELCOMES FORMER ALBERTA PC PARTY POLICY & RESOLUTIONS VICE-PRESIDENT TO WILDROSE ALLIANCE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Vegreville, AB (January 22, 2010):  Wildrose Alliance Leader Danielle Smith today welcomed Shayne Saskiw (formerly the Vice-President of Policy & Resolutions for the Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta) to the Wildrose Alliance.

"Shayne Saskiw has made the decision to leave his executive position with the Alberta PC Association and join the Wildrose Alliance Party," said Smith. "Shayne will contribute to our policy development process and has accepted my invitation to work with our Policy Committee to help us move policy recommendations forward at our June 2010 Annual General Meeting."

Saskiw is a tax lawyer in Vegreville, Alberta, who was born and raised in the community of Two Hills where his family continues to operate a cattle farm. He is a graduate of the University of Alberta Law School (Silver Medalist) and in 2008 was elected as Vice-President of Policy for the PC Association of Alberta.

"The Wildrose Alliance Party under Danielle Smith is dedicated to small-c conservative principles and a policy development process that is both rigorous and democratic," said Saskiw. "I am pleased to join Danielle and a party that is so committed to listening to its members and respecting their ability to create and implement policy once in government."

The Wildrose Alliance Party was formed in January 2008 and has already articulated policy in 55 areas (www.wildrosealliance.ca). As of January 2010, the Wildrose has three elected MLAs and more than 13,000 members across Alberta.
