FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
EDMONTON, AB (March 9 , 2010): Today, Wildrose Alliance Leader Danielle Smith and members of the party's elected caucus released a copy of "Energy. Environment. Community. Restoring Alberta's Energy Competitiveness," that provides a strategy to restore investor confidence and promote Alberta-based entrepreneurs.
"The Alberta PC government has destroyed thousands of jobs, hurt communities and made one of our province's key industries extremely uncompetitive," said Smith. "Paul Hinman was the only MLA in the Legislature to stand up and warn the PCs about the folly of their disastrous plan and unfortunately, he was right."
The Wildrose Competitiveness Strategy was developed in consultation with small and medium-sized business owners, energy industry entrepreneurs, financial and investment advisors, economists and policy experts. Highlights of the Wildrose Competitiveness Strategy includes: improvements to the energy industry's fiscal regime; a much more streamlined regulatory process; a pride and willingness to foster the real partnership that exists between taxpayers and the energy industry; opening a meaningful and honest dialogue about the full impact of the energy industry; and giving the private sector the ability to bring forward new technologies to improve business and environmental performance.
"The Wildrose Alliance Caucus has already offered a detailed plan to eliminate the provincial deficit in two years and now we are offering a strategy to help restore Alberta's energy industry competitiveness" concluded Smith. "The long-term success of this vital industry is critical to our quality of life and it is important for the government to have a plan in place that will "Get it Right!".
The Wildrose Alliance was formed in January 2008 and has three elected Members of the Legislature. The Wildrose advances competent, principled and conservative policies that will lower government spending, increase economic opportunities, empower communities and strengthen individual liberties and freedoms.
